Cno. Santiago: A Comprehensive App for the Ways of Saint James
Cno. Santiago is a free Android app developed by Centro Nacional de Información Geográfica - CNIG that aims to facilitate the realization of the different stages of the Ways of Saint James. The app uses the web mapping services of the National Geographic Institute as a cartographic background and all the information of the stages provided by the Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago. It also includes cultural and practical information of each stage, such as lodges and monuments, and a complete Pilgrim's Guide that details everything you need to know before starting to make any of the Paths.
The app allows you to take notes and geolocated photos and make a record of the route taken, such as altitude exceeded and time spent. You can also share all this information easily through social networks or email. One of the best features of this app is that it can be used both online and offline. However, some issues were found with the accessibility of the application, such as losing focus when aids for people with visual disabilities are activated and controls belonging to stage download appearing on the stage information screen. Despite these issues, Cno. Santiago is a great app for anyone planning to walk the Ways of Saint James.
